Joining a gym for the first time in 5 years!

I don't even know where to start. I wasn't committed last time, so I didn't really become familiar with any of the machines (besides treadmills). Thank goodness most of them are labeled with instructions. But I'm not sure what to start/end with, or how to even build a workout plan for myself. I definitely can't afford a personal trainer right now! Any good websites or resources I can check out? I'm sure I can fumble through and figure something out, but some advice would be welcome. :-)

A lot of gyms will provide you with a personal trainer for one session when you sign up (or a mini-session) so you can get acclimated to the machines (if you know what you're doing and you're comfortable, you're less likely to cancel!). If they don't offer that to you, they generally give tours and you can always ask the staff behind the desk to show you how to use a particular machine.
When I joined my gym, I was confused about the Stairmill, so I typed it into youtube and found a tutorial on how to use it- youtube, google, and pinterest are your friends for weight loss/fitness! Use them as much as you can and you'll learn a lot about how to do certain things, what works best etc0
