Drop 15-20lbs in 5 weeks? Is this possible?

I weigh 154 right now and I want to lose 15 to 20lbs in 5 weeks, so far I've lost 2lbs last week. I eat an average 1,100 calories a day,(I'm not a big fan of counting, mainly I just stick to eating vegetables in each meal with protein) drink at least 2 liters of water a day and I do not eat anything junk food, candy. I also eat under 50g of carbs a day. I've just started out last week, but I am very determined to be healthier.
I'm pretty much a beginner with workouts, but I push myself to workout 5 times a week, consisting of three days of 37minute cardio workouts, and two days of 45minute strength training with cardio (Jillian Michael's Burn Fat Boost Metabolism)
I'd like to get advice on how to lost weight faster? Am I doing my diets and workouts right so far? Should I change some aspects of my workout? (I'm a student, I don't have time to go to the gym so I prefer to doing intense workouts at home.)

If you are looking for a "quick fix" or losing weight at an unreasonably fast rate - you will be disappointed. We have all been that route and failed. Do it right the first time and you won't have to keep doing it over and over. Good luck.0 -
Not if you want to be healthy and keep it off. It's not possible. 7-10 lbs is quite reasonable...you won't starve and you just need a modest workout 3-4x week. Good luck!0

possible? sure.
healthy? no.0 -

Why would you want to go faster than 2lbs a week? You'll even need to lose less than that per week as you zero in on your goal.
Listen to Huff - just cause you could doesn't mean you should.0 -
possible? sure.
healthy? no.
^^^
You can safely lose 5, maybe 10 pounds in that time. You can unhealthily lose more than that, but you're setting yourself up for injury and net weight gain.0 -

this!
why do you have a time frame to lose the weight?0 -
You may be confused by the ease of which contestants on Biggest Loser lose weight.
They were sedentary to begin with and in the obese category.
When such a shock came to their bodies (not drinking soda, doing crazy exercises), their bodies had no choice but to drop a lot of poundage in a very short amount of time.
I started at almost 180, stopped drinking soda and ran/insanity daily. Of course "weight" is going to drop off quickly, but most of it is water weight.
Please be healthy about your weight loss. We would be sad to see you harm yourself to be "skinny" (which means nothing in comparison to "fit"
Slow and steady wins the race0 -
Be healthy.
I am in the same boat. I am 157 and would love to lose 2-4 inches quickly around my waistline (notice I am not talking losing the weight).
Especially since I have a sunny vacation planned in 3 weeks.
But its not going to happen
I want to have muscle, be strong and fit. So after 2 weeks I am down half and inch. I don't truly care about my calories, I just try to eat healthy.
I took over a year to gain my fat, its not going to take a few weeks to lose that fat.0 -
TBH, the minimum daily recommended amount women should be eating is 1200 calories a day. What I found is that the max you can lose per day is .4 or .5, usually .4.
You can also eat up to 1500 cals and still lose .4 per day btw. This is from what I understand and experienced personally here, although every person is different.
Now, if you look at my diary, you'll see I'm eating way more than that, although I set myself up for a 1200 a day calorie count. The reason is that I am doing a lot of zumba - say 2 hours a day. Each zumba hour burns about 400+ cals, so that is an extra 800+ per day and I do not starve, yet I am still losing a lot of weight, plus getting fit, doing cardio, not hungry, really.0 -
its possible, but its not healthy, it'll likely be largely muscle mass, it wont sustainable, and it'll probably go back as twice the weight it left.
i would suggest aiming for a vigorous 2lb a week exercise.. that's already 10 pounds, and drinking a ridiculous amount of water. im talking like at least 4x whats suggested. and stay away from bloaty foods =]
if not that, then really go heavy on training.. its fastest way to lose inches, imho.. its not the fastest way to lose pounds, but inch-wise, its great.0 -
If you are doing this for some short-term goal like fitting in a wedding dress, etc, you will eventually fail.... seen it many times0

Didn't see your height... 154 down to 134 in that short of a time, honest answer.. No.
Since you want to get healthier that is.
There are a thousand UNhealthy ways to do so. I know no one here wants you to do anything potentially harmful that will set up a cycle of yo-yo weight loss or other issues so let's dissect things a little and see what we Can do reasonably.
The links already posted are a wealth of info and I really highly encourage you to go through and do the calculations.0 -
I doubt you put it on in 5 weeks, why would you be able to lose it (healthily) in that time?! I'm much heavier than you and even with a 1000cal deficit I struggle to lose 2lbs a week (work out 6 days a week, weigh, measure & log all my food).0

Listen to this ^^^... I was and still am considered obese. It took me 2 motnhs to lose 4-5 inches off my waist and About 3 months to lost 10 lbs with fluctuations and a small plateau0 -
Go on naked and afraid. They get dropped literally naked in the middle of an extreme survival situation and are there for 3 weeks. Generally they'll wind up eating nearly nothing for the entire time, surely not enough and some of them even get extra weightloss boost because when they finally find water, they don't boil it and get some kind of sickness that purges all the water they desperately need out of their back end.
You are talking 3-4 pounds a week and you only weigh 157 lbs. You are talking seriously unhealthy rate of weight loss. You probably shouldn't be thinking of more than a pound a week two max if you really really want to push it.0 -
WHILE IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE IT IS NOT COMMON EVEN WITH DEDICATION. METABOLISM WILL DECIDE REGARDLESS OF THE METHOD YOU CHOOSE.
DR IAN SMITH'S EXTREME FAT SMASH DIET IS A THREE WEEK PROGRAM WHICH TAKES METABOLISM INTO ACCOUNT. CALORIES ARE LOW, EXERCISE IS STRENUOUS, AND RULES ARE INFLEXIBLE. IN BRIEF ITS THREE SMALL MEALS AND TWO LITE SNACKS WITH ABOUT 1 - 1 1/2 HRS OF EXERCISE DAILY. I COULD NOT STICK WITH IT BECAUSE I DID NOT LIKE THE MEALS BUT THE EXERCISE WAS OK.
THERE IS ALSO THE PROTEIN SPARING FAST USUALLY DONE UNDER A DOCTORS SUPERVISION BUT MULTIPLE VERSIONS ARE EASY TO FIND ONLINE. I WAS ALLOWED 3OZ OF LEAN PROTEIN THREE TIMES A DAY AND 10 GLASSES OF NO CALORIE LIQUIDS, NO DIET SODAS. AS A BORN CARNIVORE IT WAS OK BUT ADMITTEDLY I CHEATED AND ATE FIVE MEALS NOT THREE. STILL I LOST 14LBS IN FIVE DAYS. I STRESS EXTREME VERSIONS LIKE THE ONE I WAS PRESCRIBED ARE USUALLY MEDICALLY SUPERVISED. OTHER VERSIONS ARE MORE LIKE THE ATKINS DIET INDUCTION PHASE WITH STRICT CARB RESTRICTION.
MY DR DETERMINED A LIMIT OF 1100 CALORIES A DAY FOR LIFE IF I WANT TO HOLD ON TO MY TARGET WEIGHT. WHILE I DISAGREE WITH THE ASSERTION THAT YOU NEED MORE CALORIES TO BE HEALTHY; AND, THAT FAST WEIGHT LOSS IS AUTOMATICALLY DANGEROUS, USE CAUTION AND COMMON SENSE. KNOW YOUR HEALTH ISSUES AND YOUR LIMITS SO YOU LOOSE BODY FAT NOT LEAN MUSCLE MASS. SAFE AND HEALTHY MATTERS MORE THAN ANYTHING.
GOOD LUCK!
I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU, I'M JUST HARD OF SEEING. ;-)0 -
