Reasons you would retain weight?

What are some reasons someone would retain weight?

Ive retained about a pound over the last 3 days and there is no reason for it. Can anyone shed some light?

    New exercise (sore muscles).

    Too much sodium in foods/not enough water.

    Hormone fluctuations.

    All of these, and constipation can make that happen as well.
