So hungry after workouts.

It seems like every time I have a really good workout I'm hungry after. Ive tried eating high protien snacks/meals before I work out and after trying to figure out how to curb my appetite after. Any suggestions that may help? I eat around 1500 calories a day so I don't think its the need for more calories but it may be.

1500 isn't that many calories.
What are your stats? What do your workouts consist of?
You really didn't give enough info for anyone to accurately suggest fixes.0 -
I am 5'3 187lbs, 29 years old. I mostly just walk for now due to issues with my ankle and hip on one side.If I do anything else I do yoga and things that are lower impact. Im hoping to get to jogging/ running again once I lose enough weight the pain isnt unbearable durning higher impact workouts.0

Are you eating back your calories after a walk?
Doing a quick add on fitnessfrog tells me that your BMR is around 1550. If you are netting below that, you should be hungry. I would up your calories by 2-300 or so if you are walking 3 or more times per week.0 -
I eat back my calories and have myfitnesspal set at 1500 calories and try to be around that at the end of the day excercise included.I try and walk at least 3 if not 5 times a week between 2-5 miles a day when I do. While pushing a 20lbs baby in a stroller, and the area I live in is in the foothills of the Rockies so its uphill and downhill the whole time.0

I am too! I exercise before dinner and my dinner (depending on my calorie burn) is anywhere from 600-900 calories. That does the trick for me. If I go to the gym in the morning I tend to be hungry all day.0

Like I said, I would up the calories a bit. Someone else may chime in, but if your hungry...eat. This is all just my opinion of course.0

This might sound stupid, but if you try to eat high protein snacks/meals before you work out, why not wait to eat them until after you work out?0

what works best for me is to eat within 30 mins of exercise - Usually a berry/yogurt/spinach/protein shake but I'm sure anything would help0

THIS. When I felt the best physically, I would exercise at night and then eat a light dinner afterward... by the morning, I was thirsty which would fill me up and I'd have a small breakfast and huge (think a big bowl of lettuce and protein) lunch which would keep me full until the evening. This may not work for your schedule, but if I exercise in the morning, I'm hungry all day too.0 -
i am the same . i get even more hungry the day after. i do heavy weight lifting so i am guessing its the after burn ? i don't know really i just eat more if i feel more hungry and i been loosing weight0

Thanks everyone. I usually workout early in the day because I have 4 children and afternoons and evenings get a little crazy with after school things and homework. Ive been trying to eat breakfast, get things done around the house have a snack, workout then have lunch after to off set being hungry but I can eat 600-900 calories at lunch and still feel like Im starving. Ive also been trying to eat less calories at dinner because we eat later in the evening due to everyones schedules. We sometimes dont eat dinner until 730 when everyone is home from activities and work. Dinner I usually eat around 400 calories so lunch is usually my big meal of the day.0

I don't think it matters too terribly much WHEN you eat dinner. I know if I was having a 400 calorie dinner I would be starving by breakfast too!0

Thirst can also be mistaken for hunger, so make sure you drink before, during and after working out.0
