Hello, everyone. I'm new to this running/marathon thing. I am doing my first 5k in June, The Color Run. I've been thinking about it, and I don't want to do just one! Now, I live in "Kentuckiana", and the biggest city is Louisville, or Indianapolis. I'd prefer to stay in the Louisville area, but I can't seem to find many that come here. Thought maybe I would ask if anyone could help me find some to at least look and see if they're coming near me!

Sign up with Active.com. You can search for events near you.

I think a color run is PERFECT for someone's first 5k. Zero pressure and it's a lot of fun. Make sure you go through the color stations slowly and spin around to get the most color coverage.

Walk into any running store and they'll have flyers about upcoming events. The color and glow runs are non-competitive and focus more on enjoying yourself while you just happen to traverse a 5k course. I'm sure UofL has a few events during the year and most major medical centers have charity runs as well. Here are a few links.

Look at Active.com and they usually find races in the area, I also hear about things through other running friends and advertising other 5Ks at the races.

Runs for Education are popular here - nearly every city does one. Or holidays - St. Patrick's Day, July 4th, Christmas Season... look on city websites. Running stores often host their own run clubs or races - or there are advertisements for various races.

You can find them, sometimes you have to dig a bit.

You can even just google search 5K races in and then type in your area. I have found quite a few that way.
