So I just started fitness pal today so im still a little confused about how this works, earlier I was slightly below my calorie intake
goal which I decided i'd make up at dinner, before I worked out and burned calories, now it wants me to eat even more to reach my eating goal for today...
I'm confused, doesn't that defeat the point of the exercise I just did? : )
Please enlighten me

No.
Depending on how you set up your goals (lose 1 pound per week, etc.), if you zero out your calories every day you will still lose.
MFP is designed for you to eat back your exercise calories. Having said that, some people don't. But you have to take in enough calories to maintain your ability to exercise.
Many threads on this...others will weigh in (pun intended).
Good luck to you.0 -
#1. MFP calorie burns are estimates and are usually well over. A lot of people eat back half, just to be on the safe side. It can take awhile, but you will eventually figure out what you are burning.
#2. If you set your goal for weight loss, the MFP calculator has already set your calories to reach the deficit you need for your goal time frame.
Welcome to MFP! Have a blast while losing weight!0
