Natural Sugars.

Sure, too much of everything is bad, but fruits and natural sugars( like honey) shouldn't be avooided just because the sugar in it! They have so much good stuff, sugar is like an inimportant detail.

What do you think, do you avoid natural sugars?

    okay...
    I'll bite.

    Fruit: has sugar. Yes, good.
    Dairy: has sugar, yes, good.
    leafy greens, sure.
bread: why does it need lots of sugar, and lord, why does it need high fructose corn syrup
most dressings: why do they need lots of sugar and why do they need high fructose corn syrup

in general: any time fats are replaced with HFCS I have to say: why?

But no: sugar is not bad. And in general: the app is bad at naturally occurring sugars versus added sugars. I personally try to limit added sugars, especially HFCS. IT WORKS FOR ME. YMMV, of course.

That said: bring on the "if it fits your macros" brigade.

Sugar is only bad if it makes you lose your self control and you go over your TDEE.

Is anyone else playing MFP bingo? I swear the "bad sugar" vs "good sugar" is the easiest square to get! :smokin:

ETA: Of course this doesn't apply to those with a medical condition.

I'm rather pleased that a random sugar thread is fairly reasonable instead of "zomg all shugarz is bad!!11!1"

Added sugars aren't inherently bad, either, but it could be much worse.

I am trying to cut back on unrefined sugars as I know how bad they are. But I love healthy food and organic fruit contains so many antioxidents and have anti-cancer properties that there is no way I will give them up. I probably don't eat enough actually.

I avoid added calories. Added calories are what made me fat. Natural calories are what i shoot for, the kind that are in air, but I avoid air too because of the toxins. What works for me is an air cleanse periodically. This is what works for me, no added calories and an air cleanse. You all do you and I'll keep doing this.

I agree-unless you have a medical condition, then don't worry about the sugar in your apple :) But, I'll take it a step further and say that unless you have a medical condition, then you also don't need to worry about the sugar in your cookie, donut or candy bar  Eat the things you enjoy, just make them fit into your calorie goals.

So, you could eat pounds of honey a day and not gain weight, because sugar is just an "inimportant" (by which I assume you mean unimportant) detail?

Sugar is sugar, whether from natural or "unnatural" sources. The sugar in a single banana will cause my blood sugar to spike, even though it is natural!
