Different ways for my sister to eat protein ?

This is really ironic. She is vegan, allergic to soy and nuts and the thing that she hates the most is beans. Pretty much all her protein is coming from protein shakes, is there any other way for her to eat without absolutely hating it?

I don't know what constitutes a vegan diet. Can she eat seafood (clams, crab, mussels, etc)?

    Seeds and grains. Nutritional yeast.
Most veggies do have some protein, but it takes an awful lot of veggies to get enough protein. Have you (or has she) actually tracked what she's eating to see how much protein she's getting?
  • i've been vegetarian/part-time vegan for 7 yrs (of coures, i love beans and nuts!)...but here are a couple protein ideas i could think of...

seitan is a meat-alternative that is vegan and soy-free (it is usually NOT gluten free...so hopefully she is not allergic to that either). it's made from cooked wheat gluten and can be easily flavored/seasoned with sauces/marinades/etc.

i also love Plant Fusion protein powder (it is a powder/shake- but made of several plant proteins, very high protein and vegan/soy free/gluten free).

if she doesn't like beans on their own, they can be disguised in spicy recipes (falafel, hummus, spicy black bean burgers etc).

I don't how it could possibly EVER be gluten free, since by definition it is wheat gluten. If it's not wheat gluten, it's not seitan.

When you say she's allergic to nuts, is that just tree nuts? Can she eat peanuts (which are actually legumes)?
