For the past 6 months, I've had to use prednisone off and on for asthma issues and as a result, have gained weight. How do you keep from gaining weight and manage to lose when you're on drugs that make you so hungry? I had an extremely busy and unplanned holiday season and so quit logging for most of the month (you can see in my log all the bad stuff I was eating and why I gave up until I was back in routine with everything) but I'm back and need to lose the extra weight and continue on my journey. I had blood work done yesterday to check my IGE levels and if they are high, I will have allergy testing done to determine if that's causing my asthma issues. I've been tested twice for allergies and have had none either time (done by 2 different drs, 2 different cities, and 2 different ways) but I know that allergies could develop at anytime. Otherwise, I'll just have to keep using prednisone off and on as needed. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Is there anything else you can take instead of the prednisone? No other options?
If not, I would suggest looking into foods that keep you fuller for longer, and to eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day. Foods high in fiber and those high in protein can curb appetite for longer. I would try having an egg and some oatmeal for breakfast, a small handful of almonds a few hours later, then a protein laden lunch with a lean meat and a higher-fiber vegetable side, like brocolli, or perhaps something with black beans. For a snack before dinner, a few carrot & celery sticks with hummus. For dinner, perhaps a chicken & vegetable pasta made with whole-wheat pasta.0
