Time to get serious

I've been poking around the forums for a while and figure it's time to introduce myself. I live in Maryland, age 34, married but no kids, and looking to lose about 10 lbs. I'm 5'4" and weigh about 135.

I've never had a huge struggle with my weight, but I love-love-love to eat, and the weight has been creeping up slowly since I graduated from college. 135 lbs is the heaviest I've ever been, and I've NEVER been able to keep weight off for any substantial period of time. One of the stumbling blocks is that I never had a support system before, so I'm hoping being active on this forum will help.

A few other things: I'm vegan (and living proof that you can be flabby on a vegan diet), have suffered from situational depression / anxiety that sometimes throws my weight-loss efforts off track, and don't eat very clean. I do eat a lot of veggies, though, and try to stick with whole wheat. I'm not a hard-core health nut by any means, but I'm serious about peeling this weight off and keeping it off this time.

Friend me if you feel inspired!

I would love to weigh 135. 142 is my goal. I know that's heavy for a 5'5" person, but I actually do have a large frame and carry a ton of muscle. I tend to look like Pink, and not Taylor Swift..LOL. I know a lot of chubby vegans too.

You want to weight 120 lbs? At age 34?? Is that even healthy? I'm 31, 5'4 and my goal is 135 lbs. It sounds like you are already at a healthy weight. Maybe you just need to tone up a bit!

125 lb is about what I'm aiming for. If I get much lower than that, my face starts looking drawn and fugly. (I know because when I first went vegan, I lost a bunch of weight without trying - and then put it all back on and then some). I do need to tone up, too, but I like exercise only slightly more than I like sticking pins under my toenails. Still looking for a routine I enjoy...if you have suggestions, I'm all ears.

EDIT: Wanted to mention what I had tried - daily walking, rebounding, running (I was a C25K graduate), and the 30-day shred (Jillian Michaels). Before that, I worked out with Denise Austin. I LOVE swimming, but I don't have an indoor pool and the hassle of going to a community pool has been a big barrier. I think what I'd like to do is marry exercise with other stuff that I need to do - like walking to the metro station (1 mile) instead of driving every day. I used to do that, but can't always due to weather and early nightfall during the cold months.

haha If you don't like sweating , you might enjoy yoga. :) Some yoga makes ya sweat but it's fun and will help tone you up all around! Plus, it's a great stress reliever and mind/body experience. You might wanna try. Weights would probably be better for your situation, but I'm no expert. You can friend me if you'd like.

Hey, I wouldn't mind being 142lbs if I was 5'5" and all muscle - in fact, I would prefer that! I carry all my chubbiness in my lower half - I've got Taylor Swift's arms and Rosie O'Donnell's booty. Gaahh...
