Motivation.

So as of lately I've completely fallen off my game. I have no motivation. I've recently lost my sense of self-control when it comes to eating. No desire to work out. And it really blows. Does anyone have any tips or things they have that keep them motivated? Tips on self control and energy to work out?

No real easy fixes. Just make it a habit and get yourself back to where you know you need to be. Motivation comes and goes. Healthy habits stay. Prep it, plan it and do it.

I usually have no motivation when I work out. I just do what I know I need to do. Like right now there is a wellness center in my office 100 yards away. I would much rather be hanging on out MFP but I gotta work my plan!!

I am not motivated every day. Hell, I'm not motivated today. I really would love to order a large pizza and eat the whole thing myself, followed by half a gallon of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. But what's more important to me? Pizza and ice cream or health, longevity, a healthy weight, a good body? The latter. Pizza and ice cream will be there other days when I decide that it's worth the set back. It's not worth the set back at this present time. Similarly, I was not motivated to go to the gym today. But what's more important to me - sitting on the couch and watching TV for an hour which does nothing for my goals, or going to the gym and putting in some work for an hour, which does something for my goals? Do I really desperately wish I had that extra hour back? No, I don't. Will I be enormously grateful toward my past self tonight when I get to eat more meat at dinner than if I didn't work out? Hell yes I will.

Think in these terms. What's more important to you right now? If the temporary satisfaction of a pizza and ice cream and an hour sitting on your butt really is more important to you right now than losing weight, being healthy, looking better, and feeling better, by all means go for it. But I don't think it is.

You need to figure out why it is that you want to lose weight and get healthier. If you do not have clear, strong reasons why you will never have the strong motivation needed to live the lifestyle every day.

Write down your WHY and stick it in places you find yourself in times of weakness. At my work desk sometimes I get bored waiting for calls; I have my WHY pinned up on my bulletin board reminding me of my reasons for not running down the hall to get some candy. I get bored in my house, I have my why taped to my refrigerator. Set a reminder on your phone for three months from now that will go off and ask you - have you kept up your healthy habits? Are you reaching your goals?

Motivation doesn't come. You need to work at it and you need to keep your reasons, your WHY, at the forefront.

I've added some friends on here, and opened up my diary...its amazing how motivated you can get with positive comments, and knowing you have an audience.
Other than that, it's all habit, I force myself to go running in the morning a few times a week, and try remember the smug self satisfied feeling I get on my return knowing I've done my bit for the day. :)
