how do i figure out what my calorie intake should be

i've been eating around 900 calories for nearly a week i think and might up them to 1200 cause its saying im eating in starvation mode. i need to loose over 130lbs . so far i havent lost as much as i thought i would in the first 10 days. is it cause im eating to little

    900? are you a garden Gnome? How many did MFP say you should be eating? to lose 130 lbs OMG, you can't survive on 900 or even 1,200 calories. Please read some of the info here and trust MFP to set your calories to start with.

    I agree - read the above link ^^ it contains fabulous info for starting out and being successful in the long run.

    Going by your username, I'd be Angry too if I was living on 900 calories a day. Cut yourself some slack hun, you have 130lbs to lose so you might as well enjoy the process, learn along the way, find foods and exercise that you're passionate about. Make it a change you can live with, not a crash diet that will fizzle out and put you back where you started.

    Put your stats into the MFP program. Do NOT TELL IT YOU WANT TO LOSE 2 LB A WEEK. Go f or something reas onable...a pound or pound and a half. That will give you a do-able, sustainable healthy calorie deficit level. Eat that. Plus your exercise calories...or at least a good bit of them. You have the best weight loss tool right here if you use it right.

    No need to starve yourself to lose weight! 1200 is probably even way too little.
