Eating then lifting???? please read

Ok so how soon after you eat should you lift. That is for it to be put to muscel instead of stored as fat or whatever...? Like if I eat my last meal at 6:30 pm... and I do my lifting routine around 10pm..... will my nutrients and calories from dinner go to energy when I lift and to my muscles or did I wait to long?
I'm not sure how to ask this bit I did the best I could lol!
I work out so late because it's after I put my kids to bed.. If y'all are wondering why I work out so late.

Listen to your body. If you lift 4 hours after eating, do you have enough energy to get through your workout? If you don't, then eat sooner.
Some people even prefer to train fasted. first thing in the morning, before eating anything.
Personally, I prefer to eat 45-90 minutes before lifting, depending on the size of my meal. When I do it like this, shortly after eating, I find that I have the most energy.
So like I said.. listen to your body. Try different things out and see how you respond best.0 -
If you feel ok doing it, it's fine. Nutrient timing windows really don't matter at all unless you're a very elite competitive lifter.0

As stated above times at which you eat before lifting don't matter unless you're an elite lifter and a coach gave you a plan or whatnot for competition, etc.
All depending on my day I can lift 3 hours after I ate though I prefer to do it 60-90 minutes after a meal. In terms of your question though...Food is food and your body will use it as it sees fit, if your glycogen stores are depleted and all depending by how much the food you eat will fuel your muscles before being stored as fat. You also have to think about WHAT you eat though. For example...someone who eats a candy bar pre-workout may not get what they want out of their workout as opposed to someone who eats say...a bagel with a bit of peanut butter and a banana because of the type of energy consumed. The person who ate the candy bar is more likely to go off of a sugar rush which isn't the proper type of fuel/isn't used the same way you'd want it to for your session0
