Help about love handles

Ok, so I've been going to the gym for almost 4 months now...

I lost weight, 21 pounds. Not the 2 pound per week goal, but hey, I took off 2 weeks because of the holidays.

But that's not the issue. My belly went a lot flatter, but the love handles barely shrunk. I mean, officemates and family members I've not seen for sometime noticed my belly shrinking. Heck, even friends of my family member I've not remember talking too for some time noticed the change. I've noticed the change since my old clothes fit now. Yay!

But again, love handles? Not so much. I shrunk my hips for around an inch already.

I really don't want a 6 pack, not yet my goal - I just want a flatter/straighter build. Anything I am doing wrong?

If you wanna get ride of them you just have to keep losing fat and eventually they will go away, once your body fat is low enough. At what point it's up to your body, you can't target specific area for fat loss.

Some people can be quite fat and still have no, or very little, love handles and some may be pretty skinny and still have them. Different people store the most body fat at different places. Some might store majority in breast, some butt, some belly, some at love handles or tights, etc. For males is generally belly and love handles and for females thighs and breasts, but of course there are exceptions. So it's you genetics. Maybe you are just not genetically capable of losing them without getting very low on body fat, which would be unfortunate if you don't want it but you will have to deal with it.

One thing that you can try is to add more muscle mass by lifting heavy. More muscle mass you will have skinnier you will look so once you add enough muscle, after a year or so of training and lifting heavy, your love handles might go away even if your body fat stay the same, but then again, if this will work depends how your body is build. Other than that all you can do is to keep losing fat.

Fat deposition is determined genetically, and some areas are going to be hard to near-impossible to lose from. If you're talking about fat on your back on the top of your hip bones, that's going to be one of the last places to get smaller. Just about every woman in the world, no matter how thin, has some extra padding right there.

expecting too much, too fast. be patient. If you're measuring loss, it'll eventually come off there, too.

what about exercises targeting the lower back? you cant spot reduce but more muscle will change your shape.

^^ This. The first place you gain is generally the last place you lose.

We don't get to pick where the fat is lost when we lose it, eventually it will all come off =) Be patient and stay with the process =)
