Am I on track enough?

I did the calculation, and I have been logging everyday for 24 weeks. I have my setting to loose 2 pounds a week. By my calculation I should have lost 48 pounds by now. I have lost 40.3 pounds. Does this sound about right? Of course, I know things can be better with exercise but I just need a little support because I feel a little discouraged.

Yes. It's right. When you are entering calories burned be aware that the lighter you are the less you burn. By contrast the more muscle you have versus fat the more you burn. So you may have been burning more cals when you were heavier. I know at 130 lbs I burn 43 cals a mile walking, 75 jogging a mile, and 98 running a mile (7m30s). Formula I use is (weight x exertion x time) = cals burned - (cals burned if I did nothing).

In any case, 40 lbs is awesome!!! You are doing great =)
  • That is amazing! You are a prime example of how this should be done--exactly. When you stick to the plan, the weight will come off.

Good job and congratulations to you :drinker:

40 pounds is great; it also sounds like you are right on track. Your difference is less than one third of a pound per week, so if there were just a few weeks in the last 6 months that you maintained your weight or lost one pound rather than two then that would account for the difference. (Not worrying when that occasional week comes along is one of the big things that allows this to be a sustainable effort.)

That's fantastic. 2 pounds a week is a lofty goal for anyone. You were probably losing at that rate at first, and then it slowed down because that rate of loss is not sustainable for people who don't have too much weight to lose. You'll probably only lose .5-1lb a week from now on. And that's great!

Any progress is progress. Don't be discouraged.
  • That's absolutely awesome!! It varies depending on your body, your starting weight, your metabolism and your exercise. :) I think 40lbs is great!
