LA Fitness "Master Trainer"

Has anyone done this program through LA Fitness called the "Master Trainer?" You can choose how many times a week you want to train a week for either 28 weeks or 52 weeks (1 year) and from there are charged accordingly. I just made the decision to sign up last night and strength train there twice a week for 28 weeks. Just looking for thoughts, feedback, etc. from anyone who has done this program! Thanks guys

I would read your contract very carefully. Sometimes there are strange hoops you have to jump through to end these things, like notifying the corp. office 60 days in advance in writing.

I'm not a fan of big box gym personal trainers. I think they're mostly college kids who show you how to use the weight machines and maybe give you some precanned routines, maybe count some reps for you, maybe try to sell you more stuff. A gym should give initial instruction on machines for free, and routines are easy to find for free. But my experience is pretty limited.

Master Trainers are user the top trainers- they do it for a living- you aren't getting a college smuck (usually). They have *usually*{ been there the longest and are *usually* the most well equipped to deal with a variety of people and goals.

BUT. Really? They just get a bigger % of your money than the regular trainers.

You have to try them out- there are some that have REALLY good trainers- and then some that are college kids making their way through who don't care- some guys do it as one of their jobs and they don't care- I was part time and I cared- I was attentive and corrective and focused on teaching proper barbell training/technique and HIIT stuff- and giving them workouts they could use when they left town.

Read your contract carefully- be committed to showing up if you want to spend the money.

Don't forget- it's your training session- you don't' get to decide all the things- but you need to work well with the trainer-and ultimately be happy with your workouts.

let me know if you have more questions.

    Good luck.
