Hi everyone I am a 19 year old girl that is 5'5" and I currently weigh 145lbs. I need some advice from anyone who has experienced what I am experience or anyone that knows what I should do. So basically ever since I started working and eating healthy about a year ago I have felt like crap all the time. In November of 2012 I started my journey and for the first 2 months I lost no weight and saw no change in my body so in January I made a resolution to go harder and focus on it more so I got a vitamin pack from GNC that sped up my metabolism and stuff and I weighed 175lbs in january and by March I weighed around 140. I think that this may have been a little too fast for me to loose that much weight. In january I started doing 45minutes of cardio and 45 minutes of weight lifting a day and my heart rate monitor said I was burning around 900 calories on the average day. I had been eating really super healthy! I would wake up and have a bowl of oatmeal with frozen blueberries in it and then would have a snack of carrots or something around 10 and then for lunch I would have a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with some cherry tomatoes and then I would have a small snack of craisins or an apple before dinner and then I would eat the healthy stuff of whatever my mom made usually some type of meat and then the vegetable and a little bit of rice or whatever side we had. So yeah I was eating healthy but I dont think I was eating enough. I added this up and thats about 1200 calories I was eating a day and keep in mind that I was burning 900 so basically I was having an intake of 300 calories a day which I am now realizing is not healthy AT ALL. In may I got mono and stopped working out but because I couldnt work out I would eat even less not realizing I wasnt eating enough. I have gone to the doctor so many times for my symptoms and no one knew what was wrong. I tried eating gluten free, peanut free, caffeine free, and pretty much anything else you can think of. I never did start working out again because I have been so tired. I get very dizzy all of the time and my vision has stars in it and is kind of blurry. I get headaches often. Im afraid that after a year of doing this to my body I will never be able to fix it. I have excess skin on my stomach and my body looks terrible. I have no idea how to go about recovering from this and I need some suggestions and/or help! PLEASE if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Hello,
Your symptoms seem serious and I would consult with a doctor right away.
I am sure your body looks fine. Extra skin or chubby or slender it is all beautiful so do not worry about that.
You are correct that an intake of 1200 and burn of 900 is dangerously low. Stick to eating healthy and eat minus burn must be more than 1200 calories total at least daily. See a doctor to determine what you need.
Dieting may or may not had anything to do with your current health. Our bodies change yearly and it is important to see a doctor if you are feeling bad. Talk with your mom and let others around you know how you are feeling.
Keep us posted. We care about you!0 -
If you truly are only eating 1200 calories, and you're burning 900 calories with exercise, then you're not leaving your body many calories to function on.
Have you been logging your food consistently? Are you weighing your food? Try these things to see if you are truly eating 1200 calories.
How are you calculating your calorie burns? Are you using MFP's database or using the machine's numbers? Or do you wear a HRM? Your most accurate estimate of calorie burns will be from a HRM.
Anyway, regardless, you're not intaking enough calories to sustain your body functions adequately, which is why you're getting dizzy. Consider eating more, and tracking your calories consistently.0 -
thank you both for your replies! I made a doctors appointment to speak to someone about this. I do wear a HRM and thats why I know that I was burning an average of 900 calories everyday. Somedays it would be closer to 1300. I pretty much ate the same thing everyday and I just recently tried calculating what I would eat and thats when I came up with 1200.0

Then increase your calories. You're not giving your body enough calories. Start by eating at least half of your exercise calories, but try to eat them all.0
