How long did it take you to get stronger roughly? I started yesterday and it was so hard on my arms and I was like on 2.5KG (5.5 pounds) by my 2nd set... I'm not even kidding. I'm planning on doing it twice a week since I do other things as well.

    how are you working out?

generally speaking if you're looking to increase strength you should be doing a low amount of reps per set. i strength train (meaning i work out to increase my strength) and i keep my sets/reps to 1,3, or 5 sets of 3 or 5 reps

My personal trainer set it so I do 3 sets of 15 but I found I could handle it better if I did them in sets of 5 instead. I was thinking about doing it that way instead so I don't over do it and can focus on doing the correct forms.

I find that it takes me a week or two to really see a difference when I change weight. I used to do more reps with lower weights but have switched to fewer reps/heavier weight. I increase my weight only when I have my form correct and I'm not working hard for the last reps in my last set.

Don't be discouraged at the weight you're able to handle now. I show people my first sets of weights which were 1 and 2 pounds. It's not where you start but the journey to your destination that counts. Keep up the work and the weight increase will follow.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I was at the gym when my programme was being made up and some woman went onto the machine I was on and said it was p*ssy weight... kinda offensive considering I'm just beginning. I know she wasn't trying to be and was probably joking but still. Lol.
