Weight training at home ideas...?

I really want to quit the gym , I love working out at home and running at the park.
The only reason I still go to the gym is to weight train, it's bloody annoying the amount of people waiting to pump..mostly men ..it's a small gym ..so I'm tired of it.

I know I can get some dumbells etc... But how can I train my legs at home..like leg presses etc

There are unilateral leg exercises that can be loaded more lightly (i.e. dumbbell/kettlebell) than their bilateral cousins and work pretty well with minimal equipment:

Bulgarian split squats, lunges, pistol squats, etc.

Pistols are actually pretty challenging and most people struggle to do them unweighted. There's a way to weight them that actually makes them easier than unweighted, so that can be a segway into mastering unweighted pistols before moving onto the "proper" weighted variety.

Steve Cotter has a pistol squat program that can be done at home with minimal equipment and would give you a cast iron set of legs by the time you got through it.

Look on Craigslist or in your newspaper (classifieds) One of the things I see FOR SALE alllll the time? EXERCISE equip!

Most of my 'home gym' are Craigslist finds. I scored an awesome Olympic weight bench/bar/curl bar/ plates, DIRT CHEAP off Craigslist.

I always see a huge variety of equipment/machines online. Most people will sell CHEAP to get it gone too.

I use fitnessblender.com videos at home. I hate the gym as well.

    1) You can buy a rack and squat as usual.
    2) You can use the Steinborn lift, though I don't necessarily recommend it.
    3) You can clean the barbell and front squat or, if you can, press the weight and bring it down to your back. The latter is what I used to do in my teenage years but probably won't work for most people.
    4) You can do squat variants and other leg exercises: goblet squat, sumo squat, SLDL, calf raise etc

Essentially if you buy a few bits and pieces you can get it done though without a power rack you may not want to be squatting anything heavy.

I've really liked the Insanity and T25 (doing this one currently) programs. I like that there's enough variety to keep me interested and that there's a set workout plan, so I don't have to waste time thinking about what kind of workout I should do on a given day. I also find the workouts challenging, but not so much that I'm turned off and don't want to continue using the DVDs.

If you're not into Beach Body or don't want to pay for a program, I noticed this on Livestrong's site recently: http://www.livestrong.com/blog/10-free-workouts-get-fitter-stronger/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email &utm_campaign=0115 I haven't personally tried it out, but I thought it looked good when I glanced through it.

PS - Sorry maybe this isn't exactly what you had in mind.. as there are no dumbbells, weights, etc used typically. I think there are a lot of really good body weight exercises in these workouts, and they're definitely not all cardio. Hope this helps :)

Kettlebells. Much smaller than a barbell plus dumbbell set, so easy to stick in a closet. Real ones, not the plastic ones at TJMaxx. You can do everything with two.
