I have been doing the Insanity videos and practicing boxing for a week now and have noticed I have gained 2-3 pounds. I have watched what I eat. I don't over eat just normal small portions. Is this normal?

It's normal to see a small gain when you first start a new exercise program, has to do with water and glycogen stores in your body. It'll be gone soon, no need to worry.0

Hey Jessie,
I see you've been on your fitness journey for some time and have lost quite a bit of weight already. So congrats on that!! Have you been doing this through calories restriction alone or have you been exercising too? I'm an Insanity Coach and I can tell you that this is NOT uncommon, especially for newbies to such intense plyometric type workouts like Insanity. You see the intense plyometric nature of Insanity puts considerable stress on your joints. Your body's first response to this is to cushion those joints with extra fluid to protect them. Additionally because doing significant body weight exercises with Insanity you may be starting to build some new muscle or at least the water uptake and retention in the muscle that you have has increased. This happens as your body learns to flush away the byproducts created when it produces energy anaerobically, ie. When you are panting like a dog and can't breath Don't worry Insanity has that effect on me too!! The end of the story is this. This weight gain is not an indication the program is not working but that you are Bringing It!! This may feel like a step backwards but what it means is your body is prepped to work hard and burn the fat that you are looking to get rid of. Hope this helps!!
Happy Friday!

I lost the weight by just watching what I eat and exercising when I could. I am almost to my goal weight but now just wanting to tone up. Now that you explained to me about the few gained pounds it makes perfect sense. Just want to stay on the right track. My two brother, sister in law, and myself are all doing this program together. I love it! It totally kicks butt and I can't wait to see the difference in a few months!0

I haven't seen a weight gain but I've only lost 3 pounds in the last 21 days while doing Insanity consistently and being very strict with my calorie intake. I have to admit, I'm a bit discouraged but I've promised myself I'll see it through. Will this weight eventually come off? It's only in the last year that I've found it difficult to drop excess weight and I gained 15 pounds while traveling Australia and Thailand last year. I'm home now and back into my regular routine. I know people say that you shouldn't get too hung up on the number on these scale, but I'm really not comfortable with this weight.0
