Protein Powder and Race

Quick question: does protein powder affect everyone the same way, no matter what race they are (Asian, White, Black, etc)? Does it affect everyone the same way, whether male or female, skinny or muscular, young or old? The reason I'm asking is because I am a skinny 19 year old Chinese myself, and a friend of mine told me that protein powder doesn't work for Asians; it is just better to gain protein from food. Is he right? Also, the protein shakes I usually drink are from places such as Blenz and Jugo Juice. I have a container of nitrotech at home as well, but I stopped drinking this recently because I have grown to dislike the taste (when I mix it with milk).

It's always a good idea to get your protein from whole food sources as it comes with other nutrients your body needs.

Only race related issue with protein powder could be some sort of lactose intolerance to whey? My whey comes with lactase in it though...

OP, that is the most rediculus thing I have ever hear. Protein is protein. Yes, it is better to get it from foods, but the fact that it is ethnic specific is hilarious.

Not necessarily - has got something partially correct in what he says.
Many asians - in this case Chinese - have a very limited consumption of dairy products making it difficult to digest if your organism is not used to it. Should OP talk about whey protein and does not consume dairy in general then he has a point in what he says.
