Hey all -
I am really excited to have purchased a powerful blender (the Ninja) with lots of scary fast blades...I've been warned to watch fingers during cleaning (point well taken). Now I want to make some tasty, healthy smoothies...
I would love if people shared their favorite recipes.
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds!!!!!

My favorite is a pumpkin pie smoothie: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/pumpkin-pie-smoothie
1 cup pumpkin purée
1 large ripe banana
1 cup unsweetened soymilk or coconut milk beverage
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
5 ice cubes
I love it because it's delicious and has tons of fiber.
Edit: And I have indeed experienced the finger-cutting quality that is the ninja blade.0 -

Hi I just got one too and I'm loving it!!! I get a lot of my recipes on "Joe Cross" Fat, sick, nearly dead site and I have the book "Juicing and Smoothies for dummies" you'll love your new blender. I also have a Omega juicer that I use when I would like straight juice. Here's one for you
1/2 cup frozen blue berries
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1 cup almond milk or coconut milk (I make my own.. super easy and less additives from store bought)
add to blender, blend till smooth
you can add honey or a couple of dates if you wish to make is sweeter..

Smoothies are great because there are just sooooo many options! Some things I keep around for my smoothies are
- Frozen fruit medleys (any kind of fruit)
- Bananas (you can also freeze them)
- Almond milk (sometimes I'll just use water though)
- Almond butter
- Greens (spinach, kale, parsley)
- Chia seeds
Usually, I'll just throw in whatever I have on hand but my absolute favorite smoothie "recipe" is this one:
1 1/2 cups chilled unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or coconut milk)
1 heaping cup of blueberries
1 1/2 medium bananas
1 tablespoon almond butter or handful raw almonds (ground first)
(Source: http://healthybodyguru.com/blueberry-almond-smoothie/)
Oh, and that recipe makes a LOT. Usually enough for 2 big glasses, so either cut in half, save some for later, or share with someone else!
Enjoy your Ninja!0 -
My go-to recipe is similar to the one posted before me:
1/2 Frozen banana - (if you see ripe bananas on sale- stock up, and freeze them- they make your smoothies ice-cream-like!)
1 Tbsp pnut butter
1/2 cup almond milk (or reg. milk- almond milk has less cals)
2 ice cubes
3 dashes of cinnamon
This recipe cures me of my sweet cravings. I'm a hard-core chocoholic and sweet-freak. I have one a day-- it's been 5 days without sweets or chocolate!
Have fun!
