How to make oatmeal not stick to the pot?

Odd question, but I usually make my oats in the microwave, but I've been reading about how it's more *magical* to cook them on the stovetop.. The only time I've tried to cook them on the stove it ended up sticking everywhere and it felt like I lost half of my breakfast  Does anyone have good recommendations on how to prevent it? I'll probably just grab a spoon and eat straight from the pot if it does it again :ohwell:

I don't know if it is magical to cook on the stove top, but I used to do this before I started using the crockpot. I prefer putting steel cut oats in the crockpot overnight; but if you are using rolled oats in a pan, make sure that you turn the heat down once you bring it to a boil. I usually put the stove down to simmer. They generally don't stick.

Cook over Low to Medium Low heat. Sticking is caused by an over-hot pan.

    Magical?

While I wouldn't want to sanction witchcraft or anything, I would think cook it on low and stir it occasionally. But I'm pretty sure that the science behind cooking it in the microwave is pretty sound if you don't want to have to deal with the religious aspect of stovetop cooking.

Gotcha. Probably has more to do with watching it more closely on the stove and stirring it more than you typically do in the microwave.

Lowering the temp might help. I cook them on level 3/10 once I put the oats in the boiling water. Lately been just using the microwave though. Don't notice a difference in texture, maybe my oats aren't magical either ;/
