how much is to much sodium in like a food?
what amount of mg should i stay around for it to be not to much?
i rarely add salt to anything i eat and if i do its sea salt
but i was looken and some repackaged meals and im just curious whats too high for sodium,

You shouldnt eat more than 2500 mg daily....However its best to try and stay closer to 1500 mg daily0

That's subjective per person. Some people are more sensitive to it than others.
The FDA recommendation is 2,400 mg a day. But if you have high BP, that's too much. If you have low BP, it might not be enough.
Processed, packaged foods tend to be high in sodium, though. So if you're worried about it, do more home cooking with fresh ingredients.0 -
I read that you should try to stay under 600 mg for frozen dinners (like lean cuisine).
If I go above about 1800-2000 per day, I can tell that my hands swell.0 -

im not worried about my blood pressure, im very healthy there, i just dont want to be buyen food or products that are very high i wasnt sure how many mg per serving was to much, i do mostly cook at home, but sometimes i just like a quick grab and go so thats why i m asking0 -

And, again, it's an individual thing. Some people are more sensitive to it than others and need to eat less, overall. It's not how much per serving that's an issue. It's how much overall per day.
If you're aiming for 2,400, then divide that by how many meals/snacks you're going to have. It you're aiming for less, then pick a number and divide that the same way.0 -

Because more people tend toward high blood pressure then low blood pressure, we're taught to give the recommendations based on standard risk of having high blood pressure. The recommendations have changed to <2300 mg per day for the average healthy individual, or <1500 mg per day for people with heart or blood pressure issues. There is no current recommendation for people with low blood pressure to keep it up, but if you have a problem with blood pressure dropping, you can increase over the 2300mg.
As for the number of mg in a certain food, per my training I tell my clients who are looking to reduce sodium to watch out for foods that have a higher number of mg of sodium then calories per serving. So, if a food is 300 calories, but 600 mg of sodium, then that is a high sodium food. If a food is 300 calories and only 100 mg of sodium, then that is a low sodium food. Since my DH has high blood pressure, I don't buy anything that is more mg per serving then calories per serving for him. I do, however, consume those things myself because I have low blood pressure that has resulted in syncopy, so I have to get my sodium up to elevate my blood pressure back to healthy levels.0
