I know this may not be what you want to hear but given Mental health is a factor you may want to talk with a doctor or work with therapist/physiologist to start with. Trying to tackle too many issues at once can be detrimental to all of your goals. Getting your head in the right state to start with will make all the difference.

If you really think you are ready, and no one but you can really tell you if you are or aren't, then you may want to check out the Ketogenic Diet. I know a lot of very overweight people have a ton of results with the keto (very low carb). That said it isn't a "sometimes" diet, it is a diet that you have to stick with everyday. There are some studies that show positive mental health (different than yours) results with the keto diet.

    Hi Veronica,
You are about to do an awesome thing for yourself. The first thing I'd recommend is to go over to the Success Stories board and start reading the posts. There are people who have lost a significant amount of weight and show pictures and tell their stories (and there are many who have also lost weight while dealing with other health issues and life challenges and have THRIVED). It's so very inspiring!

The second thing... Just start. Right now. Today. Start logging what you eat, no matter what it is. Do it for a week. Start walking. Just put your shoes on and get out and walk around the block once a day. Log it, so you can see how it affects your calorie average at the end of each day.

The third thing... Take a look at your diary and see what you can improve. Maybe walk for a few minutes more each day. Or cut out a few high-calorie meals for something home cooked and healthy.

You don't have to start being the perfect "dieter" today. But you can start making changes that will get your scale moving so you're motivated to do more and more. Every single minute of every single day, you have an opportunity to do something healthy. So if you choose a cheeseburger at 12:00, you can choose to drink a big glass of water at 12:01. If you choose a candy bar after you've already eaten your dinner, you can choose to go for a walk after. Start making more healthy choices and they will start to add up.

All the best to you. You can do this.
