Mountian Bike vs Hybrid

I am looking to buy a bike. I like the look of the mountain bike but I do not plan on doing jumps and ride over tree trunks. I do plan on riding on pavement and bike trails. I have heard mountain bikes are hard to ride on the pavement and that a hybrid bike would be better for me. Is this true? I would appreciate any advise.

It sounds like a hybrid would be the best fit for you. Mountain bikes can be uncformtable on the pavement but you can always get road tires for them. Hybrids are designed for pavement and light off road bike trails.0

I'd get a hybrid unless you're going to be on trails (unpaved) most of the time. Mountain bikes are stocky. If you just want exercise, riding them on the road will burn more calories but it won't be as fun or as fast as a lighter bike. There are some nice looking hybrids out there.0
