TDEE question

Hi, I used Scooby's TDEE calculate and it said I have a BMR of 1553 calories. To maintain my weight I'd have to eat 2408 calories and minus 20% is 1926 calories which is a deficit of 482 calories. I decided to do 35% carb, 30% protein and 35% fat.
Someone told me if I did this approach that I'd maintain my current weight and gain muscle instead but my goal is to lose fat (17.6 lb of it). Is this true?
My current stats, just incase.

No, it looks like you did TDEE-20%, which is definitely recommended for weight loss. Of course it depends on how accurately you chose your activity level, so maybe the person questions that choice? Or maybe they are just wrong0
