Squat Substitute (Lack of weights)

We just moved and no longer have our squat rack/home setup, nor can I afford a gym. I'm looking for an effective substitute for barbell squats. I have a few dumbells, and I know I can't get heavy enough with them for longterm...is there ANY other way?

I'd also recommend his app/book. When i'm traveling or out of the country and do not have an access to gym equipment.0 -

Won't I sort of "max out" what I can do with these using bodyweight or dumbells?0

Split squats ( with one leg behind you on a chair or bench) are good and you could progress up the dumbells or lunges.
ETA: once you max out on the dumbells on split squats you could start doing them one legged without the chair (pistol squats, I think)0
