2 weeks in and I'm having a cheat night...

Am I awful? I'm just starved today. I've done so well and lost 11 lbs. I just feel like I need to get it out of my system and back on track. I weigh in every other Monday (Biggest Loser competition at work) so I am planning to go back on track the next two weeks, full speed.

I'm clocking in about 2600 calories today.. .eek!

  • Maybe you do need to eat more so you wont be starved.

A cheat day now and then over the long run wont make a difference.

The trick is to not allow cheat days to happen too often and to not beat yourself up over it.
You are being honest with yourself and a diet isn't going to work if it cant be achievable in the long run, if you allow a cheat occasionally then it should be achievable if all the other days you are within your calorie goal.

You have done well so far, good luck next week.

I fit in a cheat day each week. Last week I had take out Korean and this week I had popchips and a chocolate. I just use my exercising calories to take care of them.

I have one cheat night every single week. It helps me stay on track the rest of the week, because I know I can have whatever I want on my cheat night.
  • same here dear! 2 weeks in, and i was gradually increasing the time on the treadmill, and was feeling real good, but today i had a cheat day! had 2 slices of pizza left over from my kids from yesterday, and in the evening my teenage son decided to make some cupcakes- devils food chocolate cupcakes and i ate two, and for dinner my hubby decided to make butter chicken and naan so all day today my diet goals all went out through the window. but its okay, we are allowed to get off the train once in a while. as long as we can get back on and not derailed completely, no harm done.

First: Congrats on your loss so far.
Second:11Lbs in two weeks is almost a pound a day. It seems like you can easily eat more food, not starve at all and still lose a few pounds each week.
Third: I don't look at them as "cheat" days. That implies I'm doing something wrong. Some days I will overeat and that's all there is to it. I didn't break any rules or do anything wrong. I just ate too much. It happens and there's no point in feeling guilty about it. . . because food is delicious and good for us. The important thing is to not give up and get right back to eating he amount you want to eat (in your case maybe more than what you're currently aiming for to prevent this from happening in another 2 weeks). Maybe do a bit of extra exercise this week to work off the excess calories. Take a look at my diary for yesterday: no self-control. I'll remedy it by exercising a bit this week and not logging the calories I burn. The other times I've over-eaten during weight loss, I chose not to exercise and to just take a tiny step backward that week. It didn't undo what I've worked toward, it only delayed me reaching the finish line.
