Honestly it is all in the cal deficit. There is no magic formula other than eat less then you burn.0
-
Calorie deficit and lifting with dumbells turned my tummy fat to abs. It took a few months for the recomposition to happen.0

Eat less and exercise more. The weight will gradually come off where you are genetically predisposed to lose weight first.
I carry my weight in my abdomen primarily, so it's the first place it goes, and it's the last place to come off.0 -
are there specific exercises to do?0
-
Sorry, but you can't spot reduce. The weight will come of where it decides to. Eat at a deficit and workout regularly. I suggest lifting heavy along with cardio to see the best results.0

how heavy were the dumbbels you have used?0 -
Fork put downs.0

sorry, but what does heavy lifting mean? seems like everyone on this site recommends it0

No, sorry. Like everyone is saying, you can't spot reduce from where you want. The weight will come off wherever you are genetically predisposed to first. If you stay in a calorie deficit long enough, your stomach will flatten and you will lose weight from there, but it won'r be from any sort of exercise. Just give it time, be patient, and most importantly, be CONSISTENT.0 -
Eating at a caloric deficit is the best exercise for tummy fat0

Heavy lifting is weight lifting. Check out starting strengths, stronglifts 5x5, or new rules of lifting for women.
It won't give you abs without losing the fat thats on top of them though, which as many people said above, unfortunately you can't spot reduce.0 -

It means lifting as heavy of weights as you can handle, while still maintaining good form. You do 8-12 repetitions of lifts at these high weights. Youtube and www.exrx.com have good videos to tach you proper form to use to avoid injury.0 -
i see. So if i continue to eat at a deficit, and be patient, ill get a flat tummy?0

Agree that you can't spot reduce BUT, I do an AWESOME killer abs workout that on my own personal selfies I can see there's changes in my huge beachball belly.
Mind you, I've had this for years, and it's still the best, still the killer & takes like 8 mins, but you'll die every single time you do it.

Take weekly selfies of your tummy to see it changing. I also recommend cardio/zumba/running, lifting weights (doesn't have to be heavy). GL!0 -
The best exercise for tummy fat includes sitting in front of your computer and log everything you eat, as long as if your in a caloric deficit - those abs will show.0

BUt if you are looking for a 6 pack, then you will need to maintain the abs underneath by doing ab exercises and/or heavy lifting. If you just want a flat stomach though thats not necessary if you don't want to.0 -
i see. So if i continue to eat at a deficit, and be patient, ill get a flat tummy?
Not necessarily. When you eat at a deficit, there is a small, almost unavoidable amount of muscle that gets metabolized, along with the fat. So you can weigh less on the scale, and even drop sizes, but still have a high percentage of body fat, including a belly. (what many people like to refer to as "skinny fat") Lifting heavy weights keeps this from happening. It maintains the muscle, so only fat is lost. The result is that "Look Good Naked" physique that everybody is after.0 -

so only lifting heavy weights would be the way to go? what about cardio or body weight exercises?0 -

Cardio is good for cardiovascular health and creating a larger calorie deficit.
Body weight exercises are part of heavy lifting.
