Out of Tone or Overweight?

Okay. I'm 5' 4" and have a large frame (or so I think; wide shoulders and seem to just have a thicker build). I weigh 160 pounds but have been told by many that I look more around 145 (even in tight shirts).
I know I need to tone up, because my abs really hurt the next day if I have not exercised in weeks; not to mention the pouch in my stomach that sticks out a bit, along with a muffin top.
So, my main problem is not knowing exactly HOW much weight I should lose. I know I need to tone up a bit everywhere, but how do I know how much weight I need to lose for my body type? Is a trip to the doctor's office necessary?
Thank you in advance!

Best thing to do is keep looking at yourself in the mirror and decide when you're happy with how you look. Weight is just an arbitrary number, most important thing is how you look and feel.0

I go by the old-fashioned pinch test. If I can pinch (or grab) a pocket of fat, that's too much for me. Not a little bitty pinch, but a nice big one
Actually my lower tummy stays kind of pinchable at my favorite weight (when I lift), but I know from experience that it doesn't budge until I'm way too skinny (quite bony) everywhere else. So mehAnd I get to keep my boobs if I can live with a soft lower belly spot, so that's what I go with.
You can get BF% tested, though, of course. I just know my general ranges from before so don't feel the need.0
