Fat Gain vy Muscle Gain - Need Help

Hello MFP Users,

I need some advise or comments regarding muscle gain vs fat gain.

I have been on a 1200 calorie plan combined with lots of exercise (mainly cardio) since mid November and have been losing
about 1/2 kilo or 1 lbs per week. Since about two weeks now my weight has not been going down on schedule as in the past.
For the past three days my weight is showing 0.8 kilos more than my last weigh in. I have had periods where my weight increased
(hormonal, water etc) however the increase has never lasted this long or been so much.

My food/weight loss plan has remained constant for the entire period and the only thing which has changed is a new fitness plan.
At the end of December, my new plan included more weights and less cardio. In the past, I did not do the weight part
but since the new plan I have been very good about including weight training with every work out. I do about 45 minutes minimum about 3-4
times a week to include eGym Fitness Circle Training along with TRX and free weights.

I do read a lot of info on the community which states that such a problem can normally be attributed to gaining muscle.
Do you think this is the problem I am having? I myself am a bit skeptical as I am not sure it is possible to gain this level of muscle (about 1 kilo) in such a short period of time.

I have not had the time to read up on muscle building etc so would appreciate some good feedback from individuals who know this subject matter or those who
have experience with this issue.

My Statistics in Kilo
Start weight - 66.0
Last weigh in - 61.4
Weight today - 62.2

It is not muscle, you can't gain muscle on a deficet unless they are minima noob gains and even then you have to be doing heavy weights not just body weight exercises.

What you are experiencing is water retention in the muscles due to the added in exercises.

As said you aren't gaining muscle, as you are eating in a deficit.

Your gains will be a result of water retention which is common when starting a weights programme.

Also, be prepared for your weight loss to slow down - before the weight you lost will have been a combination of fat and lean muscle. As you have added weight training, you will be preserving your lean muscle and losing mostly only fat, resulting in a smaller loss. But this is a good thing, so don't get discouraged - the number on the scale is not as important as how you look and feel.
