Should I rest or keep pushing?

The day after an exercise, my ab muscles ache which is a great sign that my workouts are working! But am I supposed to rest up for the day or am I supposed to keep pushing through the pain and continue working them out? Which leads to better muscle development?

I think 1-2 rest days a week are always a good idea to reduce the risk of injury and give your muscles time to recover. I find it leads to better performance, too.
Have you tried a split routine, if you're doing weights? That might help you, as it only looks at certain muscle groups per day so you'll get workouts in regularly but the ones you've worked also get decent recovery time.
I also find that if the pain is above a 3-4 on the pain scale and is persistent after 10 mins, STOP. Sometimes you can 'work through' pain but sometimes it is a sign of genuine injury (learnt the hard way with shin splints turning into a stress fracture).0
