  • I don't know how to say anything about Tucson with out opening a can of worms, but here we go...

Born and raised in Tucson, still here.

If you like so-called progressive ideals that hold back growth and development, Tucson will be great.
Businesses are moving into the 'burbs, our roadways are all potholed, cracked, and horrible to drive on... but it's all so the the city can divert funds to shiny things like $75000 dollar works of 'art' in dirt lots in the ghettos and a 'modern' street car that connects the U of A with a dirt lot on the other side of the freeway (4 miles or track), and turning parking spaces downtown into mini parks.

There is a reason a lot of folk in Arizona call Tucson the Detroit of the Desert.

If this does not sound good to you, and you are moving here because someone got a job offer, might I offer you look into the outlying towns of Marana or Vail.

Oh and stay out of Tucson Unified School District.

The desert is OK once you figure it out. I love it actually. I really love Arizona... Tucson is just the armpit of the state.

I love living in Arizona. The economy in the Phoenix area is really picking up, and real estate in the suburbs is very affordable. Our quality of life increased exponentially after moving here from Oregon seven years ago, even with the recession. Tucson is beautiful, but I do believe it is quite liberal compared to the rest of Arizona. That could be good or bad, depending on your personal politics.

I live in one of the far-southeastern Phoenix suburbs -- the desert is in our back yard and we enjoy a lot of outdoor activities, but downtown Phoenix isn't too much of a drive when we feel like going to a Diamondbacks game or to museums.

I've lived in Tucson for 31 years. I adore everything about it. Except August. I hate August. But otherwise, I love it here and can't imagine living anywhere else.
