Is Nike playing a prank on my feet?

So.

I'm not a Runner, just a sort of runner... Meaning as a part of my gym regimen I run 2 miles a day on the treadmill and speed walk on max incline and throw in side shuffling.
Anyway, I'm having a huge issue with sneakers. I have always worn Nike because a friend works for their design team so I got freebies. But they hurt my feet! So now I am finally deciding to spend whatever I have to in order to get a pair that does the job.

Any seasoned runners have tips? I like a decent amount of support because I have a pretty flat foot. That means I'm not into that "barefoot feel" thing that seems to be in fashion.

Go get fitted at a running store (not a generic chain). We all have different preferences, so what works for me may be terrible for you.

You should find a store that sells running gear. They will be able to watch you walk/run on a treadmill and/or outside (likely even show you the video, too) to assess your gait and foot/ankle posture as well as instep, etc. and help you select the shoes that fit your feet the best  You may not get the cutest pair or colors that you want, but It's totally the way to go if you want to run/walk and be pain free and healthy!! Good luck!
