Do cold temps impact BMR?

Just curious more than anything...does just being outside in cold (or conversely hot) temperatures have an impact on your BMR? What about exercising in extreme temps? It seems to me that your body's need to regulate its temperature would have a significant impact on calorie expenditure. Too lazy to research it, so I thought I would check in with you smart people and see what info you have on the subject.

I read a military study a while back showing difference was sub +3%.
So, based on that, negligible. I've not seen anything recently though.0
