Activity level help for a friend

I'm helping a friend figure out BMR and TDEE. He's 6'4", 275 pounds and is a welder. He's on his feet all day at work moving some pretty heavy stuff and I'm not sure what activity level to pick for him. He also goes to the gym 3-4 days a week.

    Heavy.

    I have a sedentary job and work out 4-6 days a week and use moderate.

    The TDEE calculators are good at estimating, but they aren't perfect. If he's not losing/losing too fast, just adjust calories as needed.

    He hasn't tracked at all. I'm just trying to help him get a starting point. TDEE -20% is 3,200 calories a day using moderate, 3,550 for heavy. I don't even know how to pack that many healthy calories into a day.
