Crossfit - second chance for 'washed up' athletes?

I began crossfi a few months ago. I saw a post on youtube about how crossfit is for 'washed up' athletes and it got me thinking....
It kind of is true. It's for 'washed up' college athletes that still want to train 'intensely' for a reason and/or regular joes who never was an elite athlete that wants to feel 'elite'.
I guess there's some merit to that train of thought.
