Calorie Clarification...

My BMR is 1926
My TDEE is 2900

I am using My Fitness Pal a little differently. I am not adding back my exercise calories, I am just going off my BMR/TDEE calculation to get to a deficit.

I have set my fitness pal calorie goal to 2300. Since I am not adding back exercise calories, the "Complete This Entry" button (where it states what you would weigh in 5 weeks if every day were like today) would therefore be incorrect.....right?

Wouldn't the weight it says "I would weight in 5 weeks" always be higher if I stuck to my "exercise activity" obligation in my TDEE calculation?

I do the same as you and just ignore what the button says.

That feature is more of a guideline, based on the numbers you put into MFP. Since the numbers don't "match" between MFP and the TDEE method, then that feature is indeed useless.

I do TDEE and ignore that button (I don't include my exercise calories). I tried adding in exercise calories but it got confusing. You can try it if you want to see if it works for you :)

The only way that the "in 5 weeks" button could ever hope to be correct is if, in fact, every day were exactly like today. For most of us, that doesn't happen, because we eat and exercise a little differently every day.

    Just ignore it.

Totally ignore it. I doubt it's accurate ever. Heh.

That button does nothing (other than generate that annoying message.)

You don't need to click it for any reason whatsoever.

So. Carry on with your bad self.

My exercise is different each day, so I don't use the TDEE method.

The whole "if everyday was like today, you'd weigh X, Y and Z" actually is fairly accurate. Not that I religiously use or aim for the prediction it uses, I've found it usually pretty close to what it say's, although, I usually go off measurements these days.
  • Haha appreciate the help! You guys are great
