why didn't anyone tell me that losing over 140 pounds would make me look like a deflated balloon when naked

anybody relate at all?? anyone else afraid to date again or get intimate with someone because of your loose skin?  :ohwell: :ohwell: :frown:
I know I could have surgery if I had money for it..and that it might go back a bit in a couple years ..BUT STILL
it sucks. that is all.

My Master Plan....save up, cut it off...never speak of it again.
But seriously....GOOD FOR YOU!!! 140 lbs is AMAZING! If someone can't understand what your body has been through then they don't deserve your intimacy.0 -
First off, congrats!!!! that's awesome, be proud of yourself.
Secondly, I knew it was in my cards. I had twins and they ruined the tummy. I was very self conscious when I started to date again, even so my bf of 8 months I didn't want to see me naked. I only got comfortable with the big belly a week or two before I had my surgery to repair it. Now it's all gone and while I am still very newly post op, I pick it apart haha! Yes, I am nuts. But I am coming around to the new tummy and as recovery goes on it looks better and better....
Be proud of what you have accomplished. I totally understand how you feel 110%. If you choose to have the surgery one day, good luck! You are beautiful either way.0 -
You should be very proud! I've been with someone who had loose skin before, never bothered me. If someone really wants to be with you it doesn't matter at all! No one is perfect. I have stretch marks like crazy on my tummy.0

Congratulations on losing 140 lbs - what an accomplishment!
I have lost 80 lbs. and have been wondering the same thing. My belly isn't bad but I have bat wings and turkey neck. The arms can be covered up but not the neck. I am turning 60 this next week so I know age has a lot to do with it. From what I have been able to learn online, surgery is probably the only fix.0 -

Thank you , unfortunately surgery is not plausible for me for a very long time so some how I am going to have to deal with this ****
nice to have people relate , attempting to talk about how horrible it makes me feel with people I know is pointless0 -

60????are you sure??????????????you look great
Have you tried controlled tops under your clothing yet to hold everything in??? I am thinking I need to get some good ones0 -
Lift heavy. Get your body fat percentage down to 15% or lower. Slowly add extraneous weight until your skin has ironed out as much as it can. Maintain that for a couple of years.
You shouldn't need surgery unless you were really, really remarkably obese.0 -
I use to work in cosmetic surgery, how exactly did you go about losing the weight? Purely diet and exercise or did you have some medical intervention along with diet and exercise? Medical intervention does not have to be invasive, such as gastric bypass or the lap band it could simply be having check up appts with a nutritionist etc. Do you have a medical history record to show that your doctor diagnosed you with obesity and that it was necessary to drop the weight etc? If you can show something in a medical record and then get a consult with your PCP to determine your excess skin etc they can then refer you to a cosmetic surgeon and often times most if not all the surgery, which is called a body lift will be covered under your health insurance. Psychological exams will be needed to show that it effects your over all self esteem and physical examination to show that the loose skin may cause back problems, chafing which can lead to skin infections thus potential sepsis. I would give it a shot. You may not have to pay for it. Just some insider info.
That said, you look amazing and 140 pounds is a tremendous success. You should be so very proud. Congrats.0 -
I'm so grateful to have found this thread. I have been despairing over this very thing. I'm on the cusp of the halfway point of my ultimate goal to lose 150, and I gained fairly evenly all over my body unlike some people whose arms or legs were spared. *sigh* stretchmarks abound and I know it's not gonna be pretty when all is said and done.
I take gelatin as a supplement twice a day as it's supposed to help with collagen restoration (collagen cells are too large to be absorbed through the skin via topical lotions and creams.) and I am on a great weight lifting program but I don't have too much hope. I've only ever been intimate with a handful of people and that was before I gained all this weight. I'm so sad and really scared of getting that close to a man again.0
