Teacher's aide on leave after modeling photos surface

This thread is meaningless without pics.

Yeah, its ridiculous. I've done some "racy" modeling in the past and plan on doing some in the near future but there is always that fear in the back of my mind that someone is going to come across them, turn them in at work and ruin my future nursing career. I don't know why its believed that people who hold certain jobs should live a more pristine and perfect life than others. We're all human beings people; not a one of us is perfect. Who cares what anyone does in their free time so long as no laws are being broken???0

So it's okay for Miley Cyrus to twerk her butt off and be very vulgar on national TV (which even more kids watch) but suddenly we (as in the school) find our morals and ethics because an ordinary woman posed in lingerie on her private site?
So messed up.0 -
I don't post racy pics with my head because of my job. Maybe the aid should have been smarter. Life isn't fair.
Kinda hard to model without your head. But really, if she was in the exact same outfit, but a JCPenney catalog, I somehow doubt this would be an issue. Or if she was in the same outfit, but plus-sized. My bet, it's some jealous, overweight mom who was the anonymous tipster.
Wow, strong assumption. :noway:
But probably not wrong or far off. Or it wouldn't have been done anonymously. If I found out a teacher was doing something I felt detrimental to my kids, I'd stand right up and say it. I wouldn't hide, and just try to get them in trouble. Anonymous means there's either fear of retribution, it's a lie, or there's a jealous component, IMO.
Or perhaps it was a guy she turned down? Or a jealous girlfriend/wife? Or a malicious student? Or a jealous THIN woman? Why do you have to automatically assume that someone who turned her in was some jealous overweight woman? It sounds like you're projecting. Also, just because you'd be brave enough to stand up and say you didn't like a teacher's aide's 2nd job, doesn't mean everyone else would react the same way. You know, people being different and all...
That said, I don't see what the big freaking deal is. If she wants to be a lingerie model in her spare time, I don't see how that is affecting her performance at school.0 -
Aids are paid crap. Locally it's generally a touch above minimum wage...and recently, in one district at least, all hours were cut so there would be no obligation to provide health insurance.
I understand where the school district is coming from on this. Most have no problem with your "private life" as long as it is actually private. They are no doubt concerned over the ability of a teacher to do her job and about general good order in the school if the students have pics of her barely covered nudity. (World class pooter and all.)
Also, just like any other organization, they have to be concerned about their public image. They deal every day with people ranging from the most hedonistic to the most inhibited and they just don't need the extra hassle.0 -
These pics were done BEFORE she became a teachers aide. I understand we're accountable for what we do, but all they have on this kid is "Racy Pics" seems very weak and looks as if someone is out to get her. Also, who's the punk that sent them in? Seriously, who took their time to look up (I say look up , but seems more like stalk) a teachers aide, just to find these pics and them turn them in. Obviously this Sherlock has a lot of time on their hands.0
-
I am now following her on IG...thanks!
As for the "discussion" going on here, I can see it from both viewpoints. Yes some of the pics are a bit more than "in lingerie" but then again she is a young girl who is a teacher's aide....obviously not her final career goal. If I was 15 years younger and looked like that I would be doing what she is doing I suspect.0 -

This is stupid. Most teachers I know are major party animals. You wouldn't believe it. But, they are great teacher, educated, and do their jobs well. Who gives a *kitten* what people do outside of their work? I will never ever understand this line of thinking. Whether they are a politician into *kitten* and cocaine, a heroin addict rock star, a lawyer that enjoy weed, or a teacher that drinks, it doesn't f*cking matter! as long as they do their job.
I smoked weed with an off-duty cop once. OMG, he should be fired. Lol. They're people too that have to live in the real world. Stop making up fantasies about how people with certain careers are supposed to live their private lives.
Thank you! I have all kinds of teacher friends who get drunk and smoke pot and do all kinds of crazy things. And since some of the parents also go to some of these parties, they do it with their students' parents, too. Not a single one has been fired yet. Hell, I know one elementary teacher who also does photography. She sometimes shoots nudes. The parents all know, and don't care. Why? Because she's a good teacher and the kids love her.0 -
if we don't want teachers getting second jobs, maybe we should pay them better. especially if we're "holding them to a higher standard". lets reflect that with pay.
This. Coming from a former teacher.0 -
Are elementary school kids looking at lingerie these days?
I better walk down to the local watering hole and tell all my teacher friends. There's always at least two or three there. Lol
This is such bullsh*t. I can't even believe you people.
Take it up with the people making the rules and writing the contracts. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm stating a FACT not an OPINION.0 -
She's an educator not a porn star. If this was my child's school, I would have him removed from her class.0

I wonder if it was MFP rat that reported said teacher.
^ Effing hilarious!0 -
Those aren't pictures I am used to seeing in a JCP ad or walking by VS... There were quite a few in which she was wearing nothing.
Teachers (and all public service employees) are held to a higher standard. There are tons of policies, some of which leak over into off hour behaviors.
From the instagram account it doens't seem like she is a teacher's aide to be a teacher. It appears her dream is to work for Monster Energy Drinks at Morocross events. I could be wrong though.0 -
To me, this goes with the whole Phil Robertson thing. Yes, he has freedom of speech, just like this woman has the freedom to post nude pics of herself but that doesn't mean that the employer has to agree. There are things I keep private from my employer, I no longer post political things on facebook and I used to do that all the time. But I am developing a career in a professional industry and know that some things will put me off as unprofessional. It's just common sense.0

Teachers in your town can't go into bars, per their contracts? Do you live in Footloose town? I have never heard of anything so stringent.
In all seriousness, if someone signs a contract, suck it up, or don't sign the contract. But from what the news is reporting, there is no breach of contract here. Just someone who wanted to make waves at the expense of a 23 year old girl.0 -
“If she can do her job and fulfill the needs of the kids I think it’s irrelevant want she does after hours,” Tom Lecourse said.
And for all the other posts about "what she does on her own time is irrelevant if she does a good job"...
Does that mean its okay for pedophiles to become teachers as long as they don't mess with their students?
Yeah, I get that its an extreme example but it shows the ridiculousness of the argument. In many jobs, and especially some jobs, your conduct off the clock is also important.0 -
I didn't say *I* have a problem with it. I *said* they sign a contract stating they won't and they *can* get fired for it.

Is this something all teachers sign? Must be a US thing because I know a lot of teachers here and have never heard of that. Not doubting you at all, just curious if it is a state by state thing or something.0 -

I don't even list my current employer on facebook. No need taking the chance that some off the cuff idiotic statement I make could ever be associated with my employer. Doesn't matter if it's fair or not. It's reality.0 -
Why couldn't any of my teachers do that? ha ha0

Its not only extreme it is ridiculous and has nothing to do with the topic at hand IMO0 -

Wow, really? As a teacher and teacher's aide, you choose that career path knowing that you have to be more careful about what the public sees, and this includes what you post online. I am sure that she signed a contract saying this. My son had a teacher last year that was constantly out in public drunk. Hell, I saw her at Walmart drunk, as did my son. Did I go to the school board. You betcha. That's not who I want shaping my child's academic future. And for the record, I know how to have fun and I am not jealous....although I am slightly overweight. This is a site where I can find tools for weight loss, right?
Secondly, wow, just because someone turned her in, you assume it's some jealous, overweight mom. Jeez, get YOUR head out of YOUR azz.

One is illegal and poses no harm. The other poses extreme danger, and is very illegal. No comparison. Not by a long shot.0 -

If you looked deep enough you can find "dirt" on anyone....maybe you should home school your child.

Bought weed from one of my students crew, checking in.I didn't say *I* have a problem with it. I *said* they sign a contract stating they won't and they *can* get fired for it.
If it's in her contract that she can't have such photos circulating, and she signed it, tough luck.
If it isn't in her contract, the school is liable for a lawsuit over this.

I had a smoking hot history teacher back in high school, and a french teacher who wasn't all that conventionally attractive but who I thought was very pretty. The novelty wears off after a week or so.0 -

I would HARDLY call it a private site. Given that any of her students could simply type her name in and see that? Not private. It's fine if she wants to do that, in my opinion, but she should consider who she influences...young children. She could at least put her profile on "private" and require people to friend her before seeing her photos. She needs to exercise some wisdom here!!0 -

Except it could be said that people on Facebook most likely know where you work and therefore you are still a representative of your workplace, especially if you are friends with any coworkers.0 -

I'm pretty sure most of them did it, anyway, and it probably wasn't strictly enforced as long as they didn't conduct themselves in an embarrassing way. But the point is, they signed the contract and agreed to the terms. If they break the terms of the contract, they risk the consequences.0 -

Considering the topic was about posing in lingerie, I stick to my previous statement. If she may have been pulled over for driving slightly over the speed limit, I'm sure looking the other way would be in order. Some things are obviously a bigger deal than others.0
