The only way is to exercise heaps, i found that you can eat a fair bit of anything just as long as you exercise heaps and have enough energy and drink enough water, starving yourself will only work when you're really big. Don't diet and not exercise cos' it ain't gonna help, the only way to do it is to go to the gym 3-4 times a week and take all the healthy and active options, it really is quite simple if you can do that, the hard part is doing that but once you get used to cardio at the gym it is really uplifting and enjoyable.
