Get Toned and Lean

Hello all,

I am currently in the process of trying to get lean and toned and need some advice. I am 4'11 at 93-95lbs and mainly having issues in the tummy area...typical girl issue... lol! I know that "working out harder" and "eating lots of protein" will help my cause and I've been slowly trying to include all this in my diet and for the most part do a descent amount of yoga on a daily basis (7 days a week - bc I love it). I'm not a vegetarian but I don't crave meats to where I need to have it, so it's rarely in my diet.....Other than that I keep a pretty healthy diet. I do have a sweet tooth :( but I've been getting better at staying away.

Chances are I'm just being impatient and just need to keep doing what I'm doing as I have seen a little progress in my back and tummy as well as the rest of my body. Just feel like maybe there is something that I am missing and was hoping to get a little feedback and advise from those who have been successful. I know everyone is different but its worth the try :)

Thank you in advance!!!

Eat at a slight deficit. Lift weights, I'd say in the 8-10 rep range, going as low as 5 if you wanted, the big compound lifts, as heavy as you can go keeping good form for each rep. Do whatever cardio it is you like. Slowly the fat will come off.

eat at a very slight deficit, TDEE -5-10%, as you don't want to lose much weight, and lift heavy. Look into stating strength, stronglifts, or new rules of lifting for women, and get plenty of protein.

    Patience, young one.

Try more advanced yoga poses which engage the core and upper body. Hold them as long as you can, kinda like planking.

Look into adding other forms of resistance training to your regimen but also keep what you enjoy so it doesn't feel like a chore.

Hey girl! These posters gave great advice, and I just want to add that your body changes when you challenge it. When you're doing yoga, are you really pushing yourself and giving it your all? If not, maybe try a more advanced class/DVD. I also agree that incorporating some weight lifting (even just 2 or 3X per week) will help a lot with definition.

I agree with this...challenge your body with more advanced yoga poses. Definitely incorporate some other forms of resistance training. To re-comp you really have to be continuously challenging you muscles. Also get plenty of protein whether that means more meat/poultry/fish or vegetable sources of protein...you need protein for your muscles. Looking "toned" and having a "fitness body" requires muscle. Personally, I'd eat at maintenance and just re-comp rather than trying to cut with a calorie deficit but that's just me.

Right!! Thank you for the advice everyone! I guess I could try some weight lifting! I love inversions so I spend a lot of time upside down lol which is how I was able to get this far to begin with. I think I def should try different variations and experiment a little more with my poses ! And yes I will include a little more protein in my diet !

    Just gotta keep going!
