Hi, I have only just joined and have no idea how I am going to manage on such little calories per day but I am going to give it a good go. I am in need of some great low fat, low calorie, tastey recipies, can anyone help?

  • I've found that Omlettes are reeeally tasty and v low calorie for any time of the day, especially if you were interested in trying just the egg whites... i don't even notice the difference and its even more low cal! If you fill it with lots of diff veggies then its really filling too :)
In the evening I love to just have either fish or lean, skinless chicken with lots of veggies/salad and maybe a jacket potato or something?

My advice to get started would be to start weighing your food if you don't already, it makes it much easier to log calories and then you learn portion sizes and cut some calories. Hope this helps :) x

You can have anything you enjoy now too, remember. You can adjust the portion sizes and adjust the ingredients by using lower fat, lower sodium, lower calorie ingredients in place of the usual.
  • I've been eating single serving Greek Salads for lunch, fills me up, and is just under 300cals. Breakdfast I had a YOP drink, which is only 150cals. Supper I try to keep about 500cals. And then it leaves some cals for snacks if I get hungry. So thats not touching the exercise calories we get :) I only joined a week ago, and really had to change what I was eating. I was drinking more than 1200 cals a day between pop and juice, never realized... VERY good luck.. If u want, I added u as a friend. I have my food diary open to friends. I think it helps to look at other food diary, gives ideas on what to eat. Oh, and ive been eating lots of cucumbers.. yummm.. and barely any cals.. :)

Do not give up your favourites if they won't fit into your daily allowance work out and earn the calories! Or keep the worst sins as rewards for yourself e.g. loose 25 lbs and you get a small Ben & Jerry's

I like the "Hungry Girl" cookbooks. One of them has 200 recipes under 200 calories. She also has recipes on her site: http://www.hungry-girl.com/index.php. She offers ideas to substitute some of the foods that we may crave with healthier recipes.

I am new too. I have been spending some time on the ``Recipes`` topic under this section. There are lots of recipes and website suggestions on there!

    Good luck!
