<--- Yes, that's me. No, I'm actually not very fast - I'm a brand new racer, so still learning a LOT at this point!
My weight loss journey really starts 2 years ago...that's when my weight started becoming a serious issue. Before that, sure, I could stand to lose a few pounds here and there, but it was never too hard to keep it within a reasonable goal. At worst I had 10-12 pounds to lose, and usually it was closer to the 5 pound mark - IF I had anything I was trying to lose to begin with.
But then, I started a new job...it was just "a" job, but at the time it seemed like a good idea. That job proved to be EXTREMELY sedentary - very similar to if you made your living sitting on the couch watching TV all day. I didn't even need to sit up in my chair for the majority of my day, none the less actually do something physical. I was also working another P/T job, so I was working 6-7 days a week, with varying schedules. I was also going through a break up of a 10 year relationship. I was tired, stressed, and just worn out. And my job was not active, but it sure was close to a lot of food choices, very few of them healthy!
I very quickly and steadily put on a fair bit of weight, topping out at a high of 24 pounds over my ideal weight. 3 months ago I finally landed my dream job. I am over the relationship grieving/stress issues and have moved on with my life. I have my goals, and have started to fill in the other empty blanks in my life (primarily finding a martial art again - but that's another story).
I've also found a method of "dieting" that works WAY better for me. In the past 2 months, I've already dropped over 7 pounds. I'm working on getting more active, not overworking myself, and working steadily towards my goal of being at the racetrack this year and taking a championship in one of my classes that I could have a clear shot at if I make most of the rounds! Getting in shape will also be a huge help in making that happen!
I'm here to find a little support and offer some in return. There are days it's not easy, and reading others stories helps motivate me as well!

Impressive. I would think the riding a bike that way would burn a few calories. Been here awhile and kind of stuck at -5lb. I shook up my work routine as part of the new year's review. I'm here most every day - if you're lookin' for some more MFP compadres.0
