I'm addicted to carbs and wheat made me fat!

No. Not really.

Claims like this are ridiculous.

What I have noticed from browsing threads here, however, is that people seem to look negatively upon an individual who decides to eliminate a certain food or food groups from their diet. Why is this something to look down upon?

If I enjoy eating bread or pasta but they do not make me feel satiated, then I will have to eat more food overall to reach satiety. If I choose to remove bread and pasta from my diet because I over eat them compulsively and would rather focus on other foods that 'fill me up', why would this community frown upon me for that?

Saying "I'm addicted to carbs and wheat made me fat" is a silly dramatic way to convey the same issue:

"When I eat bread or carbs I tend to want more of them because they don't satisfy my hunger, despite tasting very good. In fact, I have noticed on days in which I eat bread or pasta, I consume more calories overall than on days when I don't have any bread or pasta. I believe over consumption of bread and pasta contributed to my weight gain so I am choosing to abstain from them."

For me personally, if I go a day or more without bread or pasta, I don't miss it or mind it. Days when I do have bread or pasta, I have some with almost every meal. So I want to try just not having them, or at least not as major components of any meal. Breaded chicken or meatloaf or things with small amounts of wheat, no biggy. I mean more like no sandwiches, no sides of pasta, no croissant for breakfast.

Is there something wrong with this if I don't find it difficult to adhere to or if I don't experience a diminished quality of life?
