So I am new to the forums and I noticed some words or phrases being used. Can someone tell me the meaning of...

We need a cheat sheet for these things. There probably actually is one..but I can't find it.

I know what a few of those terms mean. I'll refer you to web links though. They do a much better of explaining than I would.
Keyboard warrior - http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=keyboard warrior
Troll - http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troll
Wolf pack - Not sure of the context this word was used in, but here's what urban dictionary had to say about that - http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wolf+pack
IDEE - I have never heard of this term and am interested in finding out what it means also. Couldnt find anything on google.0 -
Here's the link to the sticky with the abbreviations/acronyms http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1069278-acronyms-and-terms-for-new-mfp-members-v-6
I'd bet what you saw was TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). At the top of this board, there are lots of very helpful stickies for your journey. They are "stuck" there to make them easy to find. Actually there are good ones on each section of the forum. Hope you find some of them helpful!:bigsmile:0 -
maybe OP meant TDEE? = total daily energy expenditure.
oops ... callan answered it already
kage <<< --- to slow to type. old fart!0 -
Yes I did mean TDEE thanks!0
-
Wait until you learn what FUPA means.......Thanks to MFP I now know.0
-

Wolf pack (I think) is the proposed name for a posse on this site that consider calorie counting and macros with no regard for micronutrients. They have all been very successful and wear little clothing.0 -
Umm I couldn't find and a FUPA in the form sticky. So what is it mean? Message me with what it means if it's not civil to mention in a public forum post. Curiosity is killing the cat.0

I think you'll find they have great regard for micro-nutrients. They just don't believe you get bonus points for getting more than you need. I know this, because I'd consider myself one of them, though relatively inactive on the boards.0 -

^ this.
OP, I'm sure you have figured out that "wolf pack" is a derogatory term for some people on here.
I'm confident that you're a grown adult and adequately capable of making your own mind up about individual MFP members.
Welcome aboard.0 -
Btw, the term "FUPA" is probably easily found on Urban Dictionary.0
-
A fupa is when a person has fat over their pubic area causing a front bump in addition to your regular belly.0
-
I'll be danged, so it was on Urban dictionary. But someone messaged me and so I know what it means now lol.0
-
I saw a prime example of it recently on Channel 4 (4OD UK Network ) on a show Called Baggy Body. Apparently the women named it Fred. Reminded me of a South Park episode I saw a while back.0
-
Wow that is crazy that a group that people recognize even formed considering the amount of people on this site. This is very interesting.0

If you mean the "wolf pack", its not a formally established group.0 -
I know. I have just seen it mentioned in many posts. Whatever it is people are recognizing it.0
-
Shrug.
My comment on it is here:

That is a good analogy. I agree with most of the comments from both sides. I guess it is all part of posting on a online forum. I think it is just hard on a weight loss forum because people are already feeling vulnerable. I also see lots of great advice though.0

Thanks.
That's a good point about vulnerability.
One thing that is really, really not tolerated around here is body shaming. Extra thin all the way to extra fluff-sized, most people ("meanies" or not) won't put up with that kind of unkindness.0 -
wait until you get into the sugar , detox, juice/water fast, all other forms of idiocy that comes up …funny sometimes..frustrating most of the time …a lot of people looking for quick fix = depressing...0

I'm pretty sure we both are.
I'm okay with it.
ETA: I'm sure I will be fully "in" once I post an ab profile pic.0 -
It seems like the people that post a lot on the forums get tired of answering the same questions. I wish there was some sort of filter or alert to tell you that you are asking a question that someone has already asked. Then maybe people will not get so frustrated and the sarcasm might be kept to a minimum. I am glad there is no body shaming though. I have seen some people comment about someones BMI and the person still being considered overweight. That was rather shocking but I guess if you do not want people to comment either do not post or keep your weight private. The forum just has so many posts it is hard to keep up with them.0

I thought it had to be a butt or "porn" pic. I'm so confused!
OP (and any other newbs), when I was new in august I too thought some people could be a little nicer even if I agreed with what they had to say. I got over it.
Those people keep me well entertained on a long work day.0 -

I resemble that statement! Though I wear lots of clothing and have no pack....
*edit* and of course I care about micronutrients... I also care about Twinkies and Ho Hos.
