The Core and More

So, I've been working out for about 3 weeks now. I'm running/walking for 40-45 minutes about 5-6 days a week. Wow, that's a lot of slashes and dashes. Anyways, I've lost about 5 pounds due to that, and because I'm eating MUCH cleaner now. But, I've got a trouble zone. You guessed it. My stomach.
Experts say to not spot-something... I forgot exactly, but to not JUST exercise the trouble zone. You know, work all over and do strength training or cardio. Well, I've been doing that and my tummy isn't shrinking!
I have about 5 pounds of fat on there that I need to lose, since my weight loss goal isn't super high, but I just DO NOT know how to get rid of it. I have an important event coming up in about 2 weeks and that's sometimes when people go a tad extreme to fit into something they NEED to wear.
For this event, it's not CRUCIAL that I go extreme, but I'm thinking it's not IMPOSSIBLE to lose that stomach fat in two weeks... But, maybe I'm wrong. Anyways, again, I was just wondering if any of y'all had tips!?
If you've got a strong, ripped core (I'm not needing ripped, but something slim and tight), I could use some advice! :)

Thanks so much!

The stomach is usually the very last place that a women will lose fat and since you say you don't have a lot to lose it is going to go slowly.

Doing core exercises will not "remove" fat from your core. Reducing your body fat percentage will. Yes core work will help do develop your abdominal, but you won't see them if you're BF% is higher than a certain amount. The people you've talked to tell you not to target the trouble spot because that's just not enough to get the results you're looking for.

So if you want to shrink your tummy, you need to focus on diet. Adding exercise to this will help, but it's not like doing core work alone will shrink your waist. I hope that makes sense.

Give it a bit of time! Maybe you are expecting a little too much too quickly. Keep on as you are and you will get there.

They always say, "Abs are made in the kitchen."

You need to lose fat with a calorie deficit (diet will always be the key here), and eventually it will come off some of those stubborn places too. Your body will decide for you where it wants to use fat from. Doesn't matter which muscles or areas you are working.
