I apologize if this is long.
I'm getting married in four months, and while this should be a HUGE motivator to lose weight, I have been engaged for two years and really kicked my butt for a good year and a half. Then between my final semester before graduating, planning a wedding (not to mention getting the flu and strep, which turned into a sinus infection for three weeks), and moving to a different state, I have REALLY let myself get to the point where I am disappointed in myself (I also havent worked out in 1 1/2 months, but a good month of that was vacation and the flu). Every week I keep thinking "Monday, I am going to work out" and Sunday comes along.. and I somehow manage to be getting worse rather than getting over this stupid sinus infection. I plan on starting on Monday though, it's been four weeks now and my body is just going to have to deal with me working out, who knows, maybe it will be good for me. I plan on really trying to keep my calories in check, and same with sugars (I eat desserts wayyyy too often) but I was hoping for some motivation from others and maybe some advice on what I hope to do to lose another 10lbs in the next four months!
My Plan:
Cardio (Treadmill/Hiking/Biking/Jump Rope) 3x a Week
ABS 3-4x a Week
Upper Body 1-2X a Week
Lower Body 1-2X a Week
Yoga 2X a week
I also plan on eating lots of veggies, fruits, etc. I will continue to have "cheat" days on Saturday. These days usually consist of me eating whatever I want; however, I always try to stick to what MFP says I should have, so while I am eating donuts, I still maintain a decent caloric, fat, and sugar intake.
Are my goals realistic? I am 5' 6 1/2'' and currently 143lbs. I have been at this weight for a year now, with weight training making my body tighter, but my weight does not budge. I've been a healthy 135lbs (my goal) with lots of muscle before, so I know its possible, just a lot of work. Can I do it in four months?
Thanks!
Amanda

Congrats! i hope for a very long healthy relationship. you can lose 10lbs in four months. You can lose it in 2 months, if you want. i lose 40lbs in four months, so 10lbs should be attainable. Good luck!!! Stay focused on the goal!0

Thanks! I'm just worried my workout routine may not be what will get me there.0

I am in the same boat as you as far as being 5'6" and 143 lbs wanting to tone up and get down to 135!!!
I am new to this stuff, and I know that motivation is a hard thing especially when you're telling yourself ahhh I'll start tomorrow! What works for me is picking a certain time each morning/or night where I tell myself just shut up and do it!!!! It's hard to get motivated if you're working out by yourself but knowing that you want to look great for your wedding is such an inspiration to work harder! I feel like that is an attainable goal in 4 months, and just in time for summer!
Will you be making any lifestyle changes to your diet too?
Good luck keep us posted!0 -
Congrats on the engagement Amanda!! That is awesome news. Suggestion, make tomorrow your Monday! Surprise yourself and start some of your workout plans now! It took me a while to get into a routine (always had an excuse that I didn't have time). Make the time - start small if that helps and work into a more intense workout routine. Maybe you can start by using the same block of time you used to use. You've done this before and obviously successful at it; you saw the benefit and you can do it again!! Good luck and get started!! Keep us posted.0

@Libby - I wont be making any drastic changes, but I plan on trying to eat a breakfast high in fiber to keep me full. I am also planning on making sure I drink more water. I've also been trying to swap desserts with healthy snacks and a small chocolate. Rather than going to DQ and getting an ice cream cone, I go for a banana and a andes mint. It's been working for the last week, so that's good news!
@TXEX - I think you're right! I'm going to try to go for a hike this weekend, I just moved to El Paso and there are some lovely areas around here to get a good workout. I think a problem I have with always saying "tomorrow tomorrow" is that I am soo busy during the day, then when my fiance comes home all I want to do is spend time with him. We used to work out together when he got home, but now he gets paid to workout at work, so he does it there. I need to figure out a new system I can make into a routine!0
