Hard time finding running shoes for my weird feet

I've been wearing Vibrams for the past year during workouts, and I love them because my knees are pain-free. However, I just can't get used to running in them. If it's not my calves killing me, it's the bottom of my feet from impact.

My main problem is that I have weird feet. Years ago I was fitted for traditional running shoes, and they told me I had extra extra extra wide feet. I also saw a podiatrist who told me that I had one fallen arch (my right foot) which explained why everything felt so uneven whenever I tried running. Looking at my feet now, I don't see how I never noticed how different my feet are. I think I must have unknowingly broken a toe as a kid because one of them is clearly stunted.

Does anyone else with extra wide or otherwise weird feet have any advice on running shoes? Traditional running shoes feel so clunky, and most of them tend to hurt my knees. (That's one thing about Vibrams that I LOVE. My knees feel great in them!) Traditional running shoes are also so EXPENSIVE. I don't want to spent over $100 only to find that the shoes are crippling me and are totally unusable.
